Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Monday chaired a weekly review meeting on governance and development affairs across the province, a handout said.
According to the statement, the meeting was attended by senior officials, where progress on key initiatives in multiple sectors was assessed.
The meeting was informed that, under the directives of the Chief Minister, the good governance reform agenda is being implemented to enhance public service delivery. In line with this, operations against illegal encroachments have intensified, resulting in the recovery of 38 kanals of state land in the current week.
Officials also briefed the forum on ongoing monitoring of 2,590 petrol pumps across the province to prevent hoarding and other irregularities, citing concerns related to the international situation.
The meeting further highlighted the formal commencement of the two-year rotation policy for government employees, aimed at boosting institutional efficiency.
In the tourism sector, efforts to upgrade and improve existing tourist destinations have been accelerated to further promote the province’s tourism potential.
Updates were also shared on the New General Bus Stand project in Peshawar, which is nearing completion. Once operational, all city bus terminals will be consolidated at the new facility, a step expected to significantly ease traffic congestion.
In healthcare, officials reported that recruitment of 2,400 medical officers is underway to address doctor shortages in various districts.
The forum also reviewed preparations for the Peshawar Valley Railway project and discussed strategies to promote public participation in public-private partnership initiatives.
