DLP Report
ABBOTTABAD
The online domicile application system in Abbottabad has reportedly remained largely non-functional for several days because of excessive system load, causing serious difficulties for students seeking admission to government colleges following the announcement of matriculation results.
A large number of students and their parents have been trying to obtain domicile certificates, which are required for admission to educational institutions and for several government employment opportunities. However, technical problems with the online system have prevented many applicants from completing the process.
According to students and parents, the application either remains inaccessible because of heavy traffic or stops working after biometric verification. In several cases, applicants are unable to submit their applications, leaving them uncertain about when their domicile certificates will be issued.
The technical glitches have forced students and their parents to make repeated visits to government offices and courts to seek information and resolve the issue. Families have also incurred additional expenses because of repeated trips to the relevant offices.
The problem has become particularly urgent as the admission deadline for several government colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including institutions in Abbottabad and other parts of Hazara, is reportedly due today. No notification regarding an extension of the deadline had been issued at the time of filing this report.
Students and parents have urged the provincial government to immediately restore the online domicile system and resolve the technical issues. They have also demanded an extension of the admission deadline so that students are not denied admission because of a technical failure beyond their control.
They said newly matriculated students should be provided with an easy and uninterrupted mechanism to obtain domicile certificates, enabling them to complete the admission process without unnecessary visits to government offices and courts and without additional financial and mental stress.
