The District Police Officer (DPO), Khyber Waqar Ahmad, hosted a ceremony on Thursday to honour the families of martyred police personnel and officer who received the prestigious “Tamgha-e-Shujaat” for bravery and courage from the President of Pakistan and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It is to be stated here that last day the government of Pakistan awarded “Tamgha-e-Shujaat” each to martyred Muhammad Ijaz Khan of Khyber police and to ghazi police official, additional SHO Saleh Muhammad of Khyber police for their extraordinary bravery.
The DPO, Khyber Waqar Ahmad invited the children and father of martyr Muhammad Ijaz Khan, along with Ghazi officer Saleh Muhammad, to his office where he praised their sacrifices and presented them with commemorative certificates of appreciation.
The district police head said the martyrs and ghazi personnel of Khyber Police were the pride of the force, and that lasting peace was possible because of their sacrifices.
As per the police officials, on June 30, 2024, night terrorists launched a heavy weapons attack on the Takhta Beg Zarmat Khan Shaheed check post in the jurisdiction of Jamrud Police Station.
Despite being critically injured, Constable Muhammad Ijaz Khan, alongside fellow officers, fought bravely till his last breath, successfully repelling the attackers before embracing martyrdom.
The posthumous award of Martyred Ijaz Khan was received by the father on behalf of his family.
The ceremony also recognized the courage of Additional SHO Saleh Muhammad, who played a key role in multiple successful operations against terrorist elements in sensitive areas of the district.
During a special operation in the Ghundi area of Jamrud, he reportedly confronted terrorists with exceptional bravery and continued fighting despite sustaining serious injuries, foiling the militants’ plans.
In acknowledgment of his courage, dedication, and sense of duty, Additional SHO Saleh Muhammad was awarded the presidential “Tamgha-e-Shujaat” by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
