LANDIKOTAL
Malaria turning into an epidemic in Landikotal as 406 cases reported in two months, health officials said on Thursday.
Health authorities confirmed that a significant rise in malaria-related fever cases had been recorded in the Landikotal, raising concerns among local residents about a possible further spread of the disease if immediate preventive measures are not taken.
Residents of the affected areas urged the health department to take practical steps to control the outbreak, including establishing free medical camps, distributing mosquito nets and ensuring proper treatment facilities for patients.
They warned that failure to address the situation promptly could lead to more infections and possible fatalities.
Health officials pointed out that mosquitoes breeding in dirty and stagnant water were the main cause behind the spread of malaria. They appealed to the district administration to clean drainage systems and eliminate stagnant water from residential areas.
Residents stressed that improving sanitation and removing mosquito breeding sites were more effective long-term measures for controlling malaria than relying only on spray campaigns.
