ISLAMABAD : Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has called on Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan in PM office and the two exchanged views on professional matters of armed forces and internal and external security situation at length.
PM and army chief while taking notice of the recent accidents of violence in the country made it clear Thursday that the entire nation is united against the cowardly designs of the enemy. The enemy will not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs.
The PM paid tribute to officers and jawans of armed forces, FC and other law enforcement agencies who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the country.
According to government sources the terror incident took place in Peshawar seminary also came under discussion in the meeting.
Denouncing strongly the incident PM reiterated his resolve that no compromise will be made on peace and security. Stern action will be initiated against those found involved in this cowardly act and these elements would be brought to justice.
Sources said matters related to internal security were also discussed at length in the meeting. The two expressed concern over particularly targeting the leadership of institutions of defence and national security by certain political leaders.
PM said the bid to target the national security institutions will not be allowed to succeed. Certain elements are criticizing the institutions to serve their vested interests while the entire nation lauds the sacrifices rendered by our institutions for elimination of terrorism besides making the country a cradle of peace.
