Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah while reacting to capsizing migrant boats in Greek coast, killing more than 12 Pakistanis, calling it as a national tragedy and matter of grave concern for relevant government institutions, which had claimed thousands lives in a year.
In a statement issued here on Monday, Shah said no policy and workable mechanism was crafted on such a tragic incident.
The party leader demanded stern action against all illegal agents, especially those people within the country and abroad involved in the illicit business of human smuggling/trafficking.
He furthermore suggested data should be gathered and to make arrangements for youth employment.
He called for pragmatic steps to create employment opportunities by setting up small industries, launching self-employment schemes and interest-free loans.
He also demanded a complete investigation should be conducted into these human tragedies.
Shah raised the question: “Is it a difficult task for the government and relevant institutions to gather data and make legislation”?
The party leader said countless agents were working unlawfully in the country.
He asked: “Why police, FIA and other law enforcement agencies couldn’t halt the increasing human smuggling and trafficking”?
Furthermore, he questioned “why governments failed to make policy for unemployment and youth”?
Faiq said the ministry of foreign affairs, interior and law are equally responsible for this crime.
“Human smuggling and money laundering didn’t control, when will the institutions take initiatives”?
He went on to say that answers to these are public queries, killing of dozens of innocent people and awful deaths must be given.
Faiq said ATP has expressed grief and sorrow over the irreparable human loss and we equally shared with grief and the difficult situation of the victims’ families.
The party chief said all institutions were engaged in a tug of war of politics.
He said there was no planning and strategy to resolve the public issues.
