Mardan police have arrested a 17 year old student in the murder case of his companion and recovered a pistol and mobile phone from him on Sunday, a senior police officer said. Addressing a news conference superintendent police (SP) investigation Saddar circle, Fayaz Khan told the media that Sartaj Khan, the father of the deceased Mazeen Ali, filed a missing report of his son on February 2.
He added on the directives of district police officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi the investigation team headed by Shafiullah Khan Station House Officer SHO Lundkhwar Police Station, was tasked to trace the missing case of the first year student Mazeen Ali. He added that the investigation team has started searching for the missing first-year student.
He added that the police team have arrested his friend, a matriculation student, Zaryab son of Siraj Ali. He added that during the interrogation the arrest accused told police that he killed him.
The SP said that there was friendship between the deceased and the accused and the accused student is one year younger than the deceased.
He added that during the investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and the police also recovered the murder weapon, a pistol. SP said that the Mardan police had taken this case very seriously. He said that the Mardan police is following a zero-tolerance policy against crimes and all possible steps are being taken to protect the lives and property of citizens. Fayaz Khan emphasized this during the press conference and appealed to parents to keep a close eye on the lives of their children and behave in a friendly manner with their children. He added that to prevent the increasing crimes in the society, it is necessary for parents to play an active role in the lives of their children and ensure their safety.
