In a major operation, the Capital City Police Peshawar has successfully apprehended an organized gang of thieves and robbers responsible for multiple armed robberies at hairdressers’ shops in the Shah Qabool and Bhanamani police stations. The gang, which had been snatching mobile phones and cash from citizens at gunpoint, was identified after a viral video of one of the robberies circulated on social media.
Separate cases had been filed at the Bhanamani and Shah Qabool police stations regarding the incidents. In response to public outcry, CCPO Peshawar Qasim Ali Khan swiftly ordered the formation of special investigation teams to track down the culprits.
Under the leadership of SP City Muhammad Atiq Shah and DSP City Circle Imtiaz Alam, the police conducted a detailed investigation, reviewing CCTV footage, victim statements, and other evidence. The breakthrough came when the gang members were identified. During a successful operation, the police arrested two suspects, Janas and Muhammad, both residents of Mohmand district.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a third suspect, Abubakar from Lahori Gate, who was apprehended in an injured condition after an exchange of fire with the police.
Recovered from the arrested suspects were the weapons used in the robberies, motorcycles, stolen mobile phones, and cash. Authorities believe more important revelations are likely as the investigation continues.
