ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan ambassador to the United Nations, Britain and the United States Dr Maleeha Lodhi has said that Pakistan is not a failed state but a state of failed governance. Dr Maleeha Lodhi said that prolonged and intense nature of the confrontation between Pakistan’s government and former Prime Minister Imran Khan is unprecedented. She said that political issues must be resolved solely by political means. She said the only way forward is for “all sides to step aside and call for a ceasefire through interlocutors to agree on a consensus for simultaneous provincial and national elections.” Maleeha Lodhi said that on the one hand, political parties invite army for intervention on political issues and on the other they criticize army for meddling in the political affairs. She said that politicians must find solution to political crisis themselves. DNA
