Young Doctors Association Mardan have strongly condemned the government’s silence and non-arrest of the accused involved in the gruesome murder of a female doctor in Kohat and demanded immediate and effective protection to the doctors’ community across the province.
Addressing a press conference at Mardan Press Club, Provincial Vice President of Young Doctors Association Dr. Noor Habib, Divisional President Dr. Sirajul Islam, President of DHQ Dr. Taimur, President of Mardan Medical Complex Dr. Bilal, Dr. Rubina Riaz and other officials said that after the incident, there is serious concern and anxiety in the doctor community, but no practical action was taken by the provincial government.
He said that the government’s inattention can be gauged from the fact that the local member of the provincial assembly, Shafi Jan, has not even gone to condole and sympathize with the affected family, which is condemnable.
The speakers said that due to increasing political interference in hospitals and lack of effective policy at the government level, the medical sector is in a state of chaos and doctors are feeling insecure.
He demanded that the martyr’s package be given to the heirs of the martyred lady doctor and the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act should be included in the registered FIR.
Leaders of the Young Doctors Association warned that if the Kohat police did not immediately arrest the accused involved in this gruesome murder, the scope of the protest movement would be extended to the entire province.
