IG-KP inaugurates Safe City Project in Charsadda

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday visited district Charsadda to formally inaugurate the much-anticipated Safe City Project.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Additional IG Abbas Ahsan, DIG Information Technology Ijaz Khan, DPO Mardan Masood Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Dr. Azmatullah Khan and other senior officials and lawmakers from the district.
During the inauguration, DPO Charsadda Muhammad Waqas Khan briefed the IG on the first phase of the Safe City Project, which has seen the installation of 61 state-of-the-art AI-based cameras.
These include PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom), number plate recognition, and facial recognition cameras.
According to details, the system, designed for 24/7 operation, will be monitored via a modern command and control center.
In the next phase, the system will integrate data of declared criminals and stolen vehicles, enhancing its role in identifying suspicious individuals and vehicles in real time.
IG Zulfiqar Hameed hailed the Safe City Project as a crucial step toward strengthening law and order in Charsadda, preventing crimes, and enhancing the safety of citizens.
He praised the efforts of DPO Muhammad Waqas Khan and his team for their professional dedication to the project.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions, several individuals were honored during the ceremony. DPO Charsadda Muhammad Waqas Khan presented a commemorative shield and souvenir to IG Zulfiqar Hameed.
SP Investigation Charsadda Alamzeb Khan and DSP Tangi Abdul Rashid Khan received certificates of appreciation for their exemplary service.
Later, IG Zulfiqar Hameed visited Mandani Police Station, where he laid the foundation stone for a new building.
