IG-KP shares police performance report in meet-the-press program

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moazzam Jah Ansari has said that all possible steps have been taken to maintain law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He expressed these views during a meet-the-press program held at Malik Mohammad Saad Shaheed Police Line Peshawar.
During the program, IGP-KP Moazzam Jah Ansari shared detail report pertaining to crime prevention and maintaining law and order situation this year.
So far this year, the overall performance of the police remained satisfactory in terms of crime prevention and law and order.
At the same time, the acts of terrorism have decreased due to effective policing in the province, he added.
According to report, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested 202 terrorists, including 18 such terrorists, during the year, thwarting various terrorist activities in a timely manner.
Similarly, 70 terrorists and proclaimed offenders were killed in encounters with the police. The slain terrorist was also involved in the targeted killing of policemen, Satnam Singh and Pastor William Siraj.
During various CTD operations this year, 46.53 kg of explosives, 99 hand grenades, 8 suicide jackets, 3 RPG 7, 43 RPG shells, 12 short guns, 23 pistols and 25 SMGs were recovered.
During the same period of time, 30 KP police personnel fighting in the front line against terrorism were martyred in which 7 CTD personnel were also included.
It is pertinent to mention here that this year the police, playing the role of front line force during the second phase of local body elections, ensured the holding of peaceful elections.
Easy justice centers or Asan Insaf Markaz have been set up at the police station level to ensure speedy delivery of justice to the people.
In addition to promoting proactive policing, the community was mobilized to address public grievances. Steps were taken to ensure timely access to the downtrodden and vulnerable sections of society including women, children, transgender people, minorities and the disabled.
The report highlighted that merged tribal district police were provided with excellent training, modern weapons, bullet proof vehicles (B6 level) and modern communication and surveillance system to make it an ideal force.
During the current year, a total of 6307 search and strike operations were conducted in different parts of the province under the National Action Plan.
During these operations 45697 suspects were detained and 8198 different types of weapons (including Kalashnikovs, rifles, shotguns and pistols etc.)
Around 184193 rounds of ammunition were recovered and 104250 houses were checked while 3146 FIRs were registered on non-completion of tenancy forms.
460 FIRs were registered against hotels for non-verification of guests.
During the year 25977 snap checks across the province, 35857 suspects were arrested and 3984 different types of weapons and 137712 rounds of ammunition were recovered from them.
A total of 87703 educational institutions were checked for unsatisfactory and inadequate security measures in the province.
Similarly, 1083 cases were registered against 1199 illegal Afghan residents.
KP police have also made significant operations in the field of narcotics this year and successful operations have been launched against professional drug dealers through Narcotics Eradication Teams (NETs) and 3989 FIRs have been registered. , 418.32 kg of heroin, 246.88 kg of ice, 545.35 kg of opium and 3599 liters of liquor bottles were recovered.
The performance of the police in protecting the lives and property of the people and access to services in the province is satisfactory.
