Islamic Jamiat Talaba, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has appreciated the government of Sindh for lifting the ban on student unions, adding that the move paved the way for the revival of student unions across the country.
These views were expressed by IJT Nazim Kaleemullah in a statement here on Thursday. Kaleemullah said that Sindh and Balochistan have made positive progress in giving back their democratic rights to the students and have broken the stalemate of 38 years. The governments of Sindh and Balochistan will soon formulate rules and regulations regarding union elections, and the rest of the governments will follow it, he added.
Nazim also demanded from the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to take practical steps for holding regular student union elections.
He said that the present government, instead of providing relief to the people in KP for eight consecutive years, has not only created a storm of inflation but has also heated up the market of corruption.
