Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar has said that the decision to send PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif abroad was taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In a statement, the Federal Minister said that he was present at the meeting in which decision was made to send Nawaz Sharif abroad. “Imran Khan never claimed that it was not his decision” Asad Umar said.
There has been a stirred debate in recent times over the return of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to country, who was ousted from office by a Supreme Court of Pakistan verdict back in 2017 in Panama corruption case. Nawaz Sharif was proved guilty later on corruption charges and was sent to jail. Since then, the three time Prime Minister has been facing ‘self-exile’, but was sent abroad by PTI-led government for treatment purposes on recommendations of a medical board.
Asad Umar in his statement said that senior leadership of ruling PTI had attended the meeting which decided Nawaz Sharif’s fate and everyone had different views on the decision to send Nawaz Sharif out.
According to Asad Umar, Imran Khan says that the medical reports on the basis of which the decision was made proved to be false.
