Rejects ‘offer’ for long-dterm interim setup

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that this era of oppression is going to end soon. He was talking to party workers who called on him at Zaman Park on Monday.
He said that the imported government wants to pitch the people and the institutions against each other. He said that the people will enjoy the freedom of expression in the coming time. The workers also informed the PTI chairman about the alleged activities of the FIA against them.
Imran has also rejected an ‘offer’ for a long-term interim setup. As per details, the option for interim government was given to the former prime minister through President Arif Alvi and other mutual friends, sources said.
Imran Khan is not in favour to extend the tenure of the interim government as according to him the responsibility of the interim setup is to conduct general elections in the country only.
Unmute It may be noted that the former prime minister has been demanding early elections in the country since his ouster.
Earlier this month, Imran Khan reiterated that the only demand he had been raising for the past six months is to announce an early date for free and fair general elections in the country. “The only way forward from here is to hold early fair [and] free elections,” said PTI chairman in a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan also presided over a meeting of the party leaders to discuss numerous issues. During the meeting, they discussed the long march as well as political and economic issues. The meeting was held at the residence of former premier Imran Khan, discussing the contemporary political situation of the country – the long march and other important matters.
The PTI’s top brass was present in the meeting included – Former federal foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, former federal finance minister Asad Umar, former federal information minister Fawad Chaudhary, former minister of state Farrukh Habib, Dr Shireen Mazari, Asad Qaiser, Ali Zaidi, Zulfi Bukhari, Pervez Khattak, Ali Amin Gandapur, Murad Saeed, Aamir Kayani, Babar Awan, Shafqat Mehmood, Ejaz Chaudhary, Azam Swati, Shah Farman, Ali Awan, Shibli Faraz, Aslam Khan, Iftikhar Durrani and Col. (R) Asim participated.
Besides reviewing the Rawalpindi touchdown – constitutes of the long march – different matters were also taken into account, including the economic crisis.
