The police have busted a eight-member inter-provincial dacoit gang comprising Afghan nationals in the limits of Gulbahar Police Station.
Police have recovered 24 valuable mobile phones along with the weapons used in the incidents and a motorcycle from the arrested gang members.
The arrested persons have been identified as Khan Badshah alias Ganje, Gul Mast, Salman, Nauman, Wasal, Shehbaz, Salman and Sajid, residents of districts including Khyber, Charssadda, and Peshawar. Police investigation revealed that two members of the gang are Afghani.
Police team under leadership DSP Gulbahar Shahkeel Khan and SHO Rafiq Khan adopted the latest investigation methodology to arrest the gang. According to police, the gang members would blackmail the family members after snatching and decoding their phones. Moreover, the gang comprised of a shooter.
It is expected that the gang members will reveal further information during an investigation.
The accused shot and injured a person named Zafar Ahmed during the robbery. and were involved in changing the IME numbers of stolen mobile phones and smuggle them to the neighboring country of Afghanistan.
The dangerous gangs were wanted by the police of various districts of Punjab district in robbery incidents. During the investigation, the accused confessed to be involved in several incidents of robbery.
