PESHAWAR
A grand jirga held in Lakki Marwat district on the directions of the Commissioner Bannu Division Captain (R) Khalid Mahmood reaffirmed joint civil–military resolve for peace, stability and development across the region. Chaired by the DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan, the meeting was attended by the Commander 55 Brigade Brigadier Ali Haider, Deputy Commissioners Hameedullah Khattak and Muhammad Faheem, DPO Nazir Khan, district officers, and prominent tribal elders.
The jirga discussed the recent killing of 3 leaders of the Marwat–Betanni Movement and called for swift arrest and punishment of those involved.
DIG Sajjad Khan assured the participants that police and security institutions, with public support, remain fully committed to protecting citizens and eliminating anti-peace elements. “The sacrifices of our forces and community cooperation are the foundation of stability,” he maintained.
Deputy Commissioner Lakki Marwat Hameedullah Khattak conveyed the Commissioner Bannu’s message, emphasizing that close coordination between the civil and military leadership is the provincial government’s top priority to ensure lasting peace, effective governance and public welfare.
The jirga pledged to strengthen collective action for peace and prosperity across all districts of Bannu Division.
