Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while terming July 05, 1977 Martial law the blackest chapter of Pakistan has said this day ambush was carried out on elected government which drifted the country to darkness.
In a statement issued social media website X he said dictatorship sowed the seeds of hatred and division on July 5 and its impacts are still visible on political social and national conscious.
Time has come to come out of quagmire of hatred, chaos and pursue the norms of unity, tolerance and supremacy of constitution.
We all will have to end the darkness of dictatorship in unison so that we could give a bright, peaceful and democratic Pakistan to coming generations.
Vice president PPP Sherry Rehman said July 5 is the darkest day adding this is such day when democratic government of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was overthrown and aspirations of the people were stifled.
She said PPP under leadership of Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will continue struggle for democratic society and supremacy of constitution.
Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Murad Ali Shah cautioned that conspiracies against democracy and national integrity are continuing today too which will be countered with full force for protection of constitution, people rights and democratic values.
Sindh senior minister Sharjeel Memon said Gen Zia ambushed the democratic government of Bhutto. First elected government of the country was dismissed through this unconstitutional step.
