The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved 37 major development projects worth Rs23.3 Billion for Kohat under the 2026-27 Annual Development Programme, in a move aimed at strengthening infrastructure, expanding public services and accelerating economic growth in the district.
The package follows joint efforts by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Minister Aftab Alam, Information Minister Shafi Jan, DDAC Chairman and MPA Daud Afridi and MNA Shehryar Afridi, who said the projects were secured under Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi’s “Prosperous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Budget 2026-27” in line with the PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s development vision.
The funding covers 14 sectors, with Rs11.5 billion allocated for roads and communications, Rs5.2 billion for drinking water projects, Rs2 billion for healthcare, Rs1.06 billion for home affairs, Rs1 billion for multi-sector development, Rs450 million for sports, Rs460 million for primary education, Rs410 million for irrigation, Rs225 million for agriculture, Rs217 million for higher education, Rs167 million for local government, Rs100 million for livestock, Rs500 million for social welfare and Rs10 million for industry.
The approved portfolio includes 10 communications and works projects, four each in health and drinking water, three each in irrigation and higher education, two each in home affairs, sports, local government, and primary and secondary education, and one project each in multi-sector development, livestock, social welfare, agriculture and industry.
The lawmakers said the projects would improve transport infrastructure, strengthen irrigation networks, expand healthcare facilities, improve access to safe drinking water and enhance other essential public services. They added that the investments were expected to generate employment, boost economic activity and improve living standards across Kohat district.
