KP-CTA employees stage protest seeking service extension

PESHAWAR: Statutory employees of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KP-CTA) staged a demonstration for extension in their contract here on Thursday. The employees gathered in front of Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and staged a demonestration against the retrenchment of employees from the authority. The protesters alleged that the provincial government is according discriminatory treatment to the employees of the authority, saying that although the employment contracts of 65 employees expired last year, they are still working on their seats. On the other hand, they said that 87 employees of the culture and tourism authority are being retrenched and out of them 57 have already been removed on September 10 while the contract of 30 more is expiring on 30th of the current month.
The protesting employees have demanded extension in the employment contract of the employees or re-advertise all posts as per law.
