KP excise dept seizes 9.6kg hashish, three held

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department recovered 9,600 grams of hashish and arrested three suspected drug traffickers in separate operations near Peshawar and Khyber district, officials said on Thursday. According to a statement, the Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Squad acted on a tip-off and intercepted a vehicle near H-Gol Chowk, Peshawar, while it was allegedly being used to smuggle narcotics toward Islamabad. A search of vehicle led to the recovery of 7,200 grams of hashish. Two men, identified as Muhammad Azeem Khan son of Muhammad Qalam, a resident of Zhob, and Muhammad Abrar son of Gul Zaman, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, were arrested at the scene. A case has been registered at Excise Police Station Peshawar, and further investigation is underway. In a separate raid near Karkhano Phattak, Excise Police Station Khyber arrested Ayan Khan son of Muhammad Kamran and seized 2,400 grams of hashish from his possession. A separate case has been lodged at Excise Police Station Khyber. The department said it remains committed to “indiscriminate action” against drug traffickers and would continue to intensify operations to curb narcotics trafficking across the province. DLP Report
