Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali on Friday directed officials to ensure timely completion of ongoing housing schemes and provision of basic amenities to residents.
He issued the directives while chairing a review meeting at the Housing Department, where senior officials briefed him on progress on various schemes across the province, said a handout.
The statement said the meeting reviewed development work on the New Peshawar Valley, Hangu Township, Jalozai Housing Scheme, New Mega City Nowshera, high-rise flats in Hayatabad, Jarma Housing Scheme, Warsak-I in Peshawar and Dangram Housing Scheme in Swat, among other projects.
Dr Amjad directed officials to start construction work on Phase-I of the New Peshawar Valley Housing Scheme and along the expressway on a priority basis and within the prescribed timeline, stressing that further delays should be avoided.
He said basic facilities must be provided in all housing schemes across the province to ensure quality and improved residential facilities for citizens.
The minister also directed the relevant authorities to submit a comprehensive report on the New Mega City Nowshera within a week.
He said the provincial government was taking practical measures to provide people with better and quality housing facilities, adding that special attention would be paid to the provision of basic amenities and timely completion of development projects.
Dr Amjad also directed officials to inspect Hangu Township and ordered that the use of substandard construction material be prevented. He stressed that no compromise would be made on the quality of construction work.
The minister appreciated steps being taken to digitise the records of daily-wage employees deployed in various housing schemes.
The meeting was attended by Housing Secretary Mohammad Anwar Khan, Director General Housing Zahid Khan, Director Administration Amanul Haq, Project Director New Peshawar Valley Abdul Wadood Shah, Director Planning Yaqoob Khan, Additional Director General Amir Zaib, Director Legal Johar Ejaz and other officials.
It was also decided to convene a meeting of the Housing Department’s board next week.
