Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hamid on Friday awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to police officers and personnel from five districts for their outstanding performance in operations against militants, target killers, murder suspects, robbers and dacoits.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Central Police Office in Peshawar, according to a police statement.
Personnel from Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan districts were honoured for their professional conduct and successful operations.
The Capital City Police Peshawar team was rewarded for conducting a successful intelligence-based operation against a gang of proclaimed and dangerous criminals. The police returned fire after coming under attack from the suspects and displayed professional courage during the operation.
Mardan police officers and personnel were recognised for arresting suspects wanted by Islamabad Police.
Charsadda police officials and personnel were also rewarded for apprehending a dangerous suspect and robber wanted in connection with the murder of Islamabad businessman and Toyota showroom owner Amir Awan. The police team completed the operation without any casualty and demonstrated courage and professionalism, according to the statement.
During a joint intelligence-based operation by Karak and Kohat police in Karak district, four key members of a militant group were killed following an intense exchange of fire. The slain militants were allegedly involved in several serious crimes and terrorist activities, including an attack on martyred SHO Umar Nawaz.
Dera Ismail Khan police were recognised for arresting three robbery suspects and recovering the entire amount of Rs1.939 million allegedly snatched during the robbery.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hamid praised the award recipients for their courage, dedication to duty and professional commitment.
He said the KP police faced serious challenges in maintaining law and order but was confronting them with determination and courage and achieving successes against militants.
The IGP described the successful operations carried out by the awarded personnel as exemplary and expressed the hope that they would continue to serve the public and the country with the same dedication, courage and honesty.
Additional Inspectors General Abbas Ahsan, Alam Shinwari and Abbas Majeed Marwat, and Principal Staff Officer to the IGP Ahmed Shah were also present at the ceremony.
