PESHAWAR: The provincial health department has said that the number of dengue patients in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is at its lowest level in history, with only 86 patients diagnosed with the dengue virus so far. In a statement issued here stated that 77 infected people have recovered, leaving only nine active cases, with just two hospitalized. The Health Minister Qasim Ali Shah has directed dengue teams, line departments, and district administration to intensify anti-dengue operations across KP. The Department of Health has issued guidelines to prevent the spread of dengue, including removing standing water, covering open water, using larvicide, and increasing awareness campaigns. Health centers have been advised to focus on preparedness, case management, and dengue surveillance. KP experienced a significant dengue outbreak in 2013, with 57 deaths and 8,000 morbidities. The government’s efforts to control dengue are ongoing, with a focus on preventing the spread of the disease and protecting the public from deadly diseases like dengue, said the statement.
