Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will establish five additional FM radio stations to expand outreach and strengthen public communication.
These views were expressed by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan said on Monday.
Chairing a meeting on FM radio operations, Mr Jan was briefed on the establishment, objectives and role of Pakhtunkhwa Radio in promoting the national narrative and publicising government initiatives. Secretary Information Matiullah Khan and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
The special assistant directed authorities to prepare a comprehensive legal framework for radio transmission in the province and to extend Pakhtunkhwa Radio’s coverage to all areas.
To achieve this, he ordered the establishment of five new FM stations and called for measures to enhance the coverage of the existing 10 stations.
Mr Jan also instructed officials to ensure the installation of modern, high-quality transmitters at Pakhtunkhwa Radio Peshawar and to expedite the launch of a dedicated website and mobile application.
He said KP had an effective community radio network and described radio as a reliable medium for promoting the national narrative, disseminating information during natural disasters, and raising public awareness.
He added that efforts would be made to further modernise the platform to ensure timely dissemination of authentic information, improve public engagement, and effectively highlight government initiatives.
