PESHAWAR
The operational grant of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (KPHA) has been increased to Rs 40 million, up from the previous Rs 30 million, following approval at the 24th meeting of the KP Highways Council.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, where key decisions were made regarding the authority’s budget, annual maintenance plan and administrative matters. The Chief Minister also directed that more funds and larger development projects be included for the authority in the upcoming provincial budget.
During the session, it was decided to increase the number of seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Internship Program by 20 percent, raising the total from 5,000 to 6,000 positions. The Chief Minister further instructed the authority not to collect right-of-way charges, emphasizing the need to promote ease of doing business in the province.
The council also approved proposed amendments to the authority’s Service Regulations 2019, along with enhanced retirement benefits and death compensation for employees. Additionally, a principle decision was taken to improve the financial assistance package for heirs of deceased employees under the Sehat Card Program.
