LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) while issuing notice on contempt of court petition against IG Punjab Rao Abdul Karim has sought explanation. This is first contempt of court plea against IG Punjab Rao Abdul Karim.
Justice Shahid Karim of LHC heard the petition filed by former constables Muhammad Atif and Jamshed Iqbal. The petition said they were recruited as police constables on August 9, 2024. The order for their recruitment as constable was withdrawn on May 21, 2025. Appeals were filed with CCPO and IG Police for redressal but no action was taken. According to petitioners , they resorted to the court when their grievances were not redressed by police officers. LHC ordered IG Punjab to decide the pending application. The court ordered IG Punjab on October 21, 2025 to give decision on pending applications within three weeks. IG Punjab has not complied with court’s orders so far. Non implementing orders falls in the ambit of sheer non compliance of court’s orders. It was requested in the petition to initiate contempt of court proceedings against IG Punjab Rao Abdul Karim.
