Maintaining law and order situation in LG polls top priority, SSP Operations

SSP Operations Haroon Rashid has said that maintaining law and order situation in the provincial capital on Election Day was the top priority of the police, adding that a plan of security has been devised for this purpose
He said that police have formulated a special strategy to root out elements involved in street crimes and to hold peaceful local body elections, said a police statement.
In this connection, police have activated human intelligence, among other measures. During the search operations 56 notorious criminals involved in serious crimes have been arrested, as well as 130 suspects, including three aerial shooters, have been detained and questioned.
The operation also targeted 68 unregistered tenants and 18 illegal Afghan nationals, as well as arrested persons harboring notorious criminals, including those released from prison in the provincial capital.
A total of 8 Kalashnikovs, 34 pistols, four rifles and hundreds of different bore cartridges were also recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects during the search and strike operations.
SSP Operation Haroon Rasheed has directed to intensify the ongoing operations against the elements involved in anti-social activities.
He clarified that peaceful conduct of local body elections is the top priority for information based operations including other important measures.
The series has also been stepped up, he said, adding that other measures, including operations and snap-checking, have been successful against elements involved in street crimes.
