PESHAWAR: A man killed his 16-year-old daughter and a 23-year-old neighbor in the name of honor in Machni Gate area here, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the incident occurred in Sadiqabad area, where the suspect armed with a Kalashnikov entered a hujra and opened fire on his daughter and the young man before fleeing the scene. The victims were identified as 23-year-old Yousaf, son of Saleem and a 16-year-old girl identified as daughter of Jangrez. Police said the two victims were neighbors and the suspect allegedly believed that they had a relationship. Muhammad Saleem, the father of Yousaf, told police that he was preparing to travel to Fateh Jang in Punjab and was searching for his son, whose mobile phone was switched off. He said that while looking for Yousaf, he went to the roof of the house and heard noises. He later reached Jangrez’s hujra, where he allegedly found the suspect armed. By then, his son and the girl had been killed in the firing. Police said the suspect also took Yousaf’s mobile phone before fleeing. A case has been registered under provisions relating to the alleged honor killing and double murder. The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examinations, while police have launched an investigation into the incident. APP
