Minister inaugurates “Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Expo 2025”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement Department Aqibullah Khan has said the province is striving to create a region that not only has the capacity to face challenges but also ensures safe and sustainable development.
Each time, he said the people of this province have faced all difficulties with courage, fortitude, and solidarity adding public awareness and full coordination are essential to deal with disasters.
He said this while addressing a ceremony held to inaugurate the “Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Expo 2025” held here the other day. Representatives of government departments and UN agencies, the development sector, researchers, teachers and students participated in the expo.
The provincial minister paid tribute to the efforts of the Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement Department for making this important event possible with great effort and excellent strategy and bringing all the relevant institutions together on one place.
Speaking to the media, Aqib Ullah Khan said that the recent 2025 floods tested our timely preparedness and response, but better strategies and early warning systems, effective coordination, and public support played a significant role in minimizing major losses.
He said the provincial government reiterates its commitment to continue investing in technology and modern equipment, strengthening infrastructure and making climate change, risks and solutions an integral part of the province’s comprehensive development. Today’s Expo, he said is a reflection of the vision of a strong, safe and smart Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said that through this platform, we are bringing together government departments, UN agencies, donor agencies, NGOs, INGOs, academic institutions and technical experts for a common goal to not only deal with risks and disasters but also ensure the foundation for development, innovation and a secure future.
