Secretary Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department, Abdul Basit, presided over a meeting on Summer Emergencies Coordination-2023.
During the meeting, Secretary Relief instructed the attached departments, including ERS Rescue-1122, PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Civil Defence Directorate KP to organize regular mock exercises in collaboration with local communities.
Director Civil Defence, DG Academy Rescue 1122, Program Manager GCC PDMA, and other representatives were present at the meeting.
To enhance community preparedness, all provincial and district authorities will launch an awareness campaign aimed at sensitizing the public about the importance of developing action plans for both heatwaves and the monsoon season in 2023.
The concerned district administrations are currently finalizing the schedule for conducting mock exercises and awareness sessions for the upcoming monsoon in 2023.
These proactive measures taken by the Relief Department and district administration will ensure better preparedness and response capabilities to mitigate the impact of potential heatwaves and monsoon-related emergencies.
By involving local communities in process, the aim is to foster a comprehensive and collaborative approach to disaster management.
