The provincial government took notice of the recent media reports claiming the imposition of a 2 per cent Infrastructure Development Cess on the transportation of food items manufactured, produced, traded, or consumed within the province.
In an official statement, the KP government categorically clarified that no such cess has been imposed on locally produced, manufactured, or traded food items. The reports published in various newspapers are inaccurate and were published without official confirmation from the government. For any cess to be imposed, the government is required to issue an official notification and there has been no such notification issued which could impose Cess on locally produced, manufactured, or traded food items. The Infrastructure Development Cess currently applies to the import, export, and transit of goods at applicable rates, and any suggestion of its extension to locally produced or traded items is entirely baseless. The Government of KP remains committed to nurturing a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, promoting economic growth and a healthy business ecosystem in the province
