DIR UPPER
Old cricket club Khan Baba defeated United Wari Club in the final of the PCB Dir Upper Inter-Club Cricket Tournament played at Dir Cricket Stadium here on Monday.
Former District Sports Officer and ex-President Dir Upper Cricket Association Mukhtiar Hussain was the chief guest on this occasion who also witnessed the final match with Organizing Secretary Jamil Babar and other members of the committee.
Khan Baba club won the toss and invited United Wari to bat first. United Wari while batting first scored 132 runs after playing 23 overs of the allotted 25 overs match.
For United Wari Bacha Akmal made 38 off 22 balls while staying 25 minute at the wicket, hitting six boundaries. Atta Ullah scored 20 runs, Obaid not out 20 runs, Ibrahim (15) runs were the other main contributors.
For Khan Baba club right-arm-medium pacer Mujtaba claimed four wickets for 15 runs in his five overs spell, another promising right-arm-medium fast bowler Murad Khan got three wickets for 41 runs in his five over spell, Aman Ullah took two for 21 runs and Adil Khan got one for 11 runs respectively.
In reply Adil Khan smashed 68 runs off 45 balls by staying 69 minute at the wickets with six boundaries and five sixes. He played excellently and hit all the rival bowlers toward the boundary line with his fluent batting.
His batting was also enjoyed by a large number of spectators present during the final. Zahid Khan (23) Abdul Hamza Jan not out 22 were the other key contributors.
Thus Khan Baba club chased the target for the loss of five wickets after playing 22.5 balls. For United Wari Atta Ullah claimed two wickets for 25 runs in his six over spell, Inam took two for 29 runs, and Shah Faisal got one for 16 runs.
Muhammad Zada and Sami Ur Rehman supervised the match while Izhar Uddin acted as official score. At the end, the chief guest Mukhtiar Hussain gave away trophies and cash prizes.
A total of 52 clubs took part in the tournament, simultaneously played at Sheeriangle Campus ground and Dir Upper Cricket Stadium. Having equipped with floodlight facilities, many of the matches of the tournament were also played during the night-time wherein a large number of spectators witnessed the matches.
Talking to media men Mukhtiar Hussain said that Deputy Commissioner Dir Upper and district administration along with Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are trying their best to involve maximum number of youth in healthy sports activities that is why the Dir Upper Stadium, equipped with floodlight facilities, is busying round the clock providing due facilities to the youth in different Games like football, basketball, hockey, table tennis, badminton, squash and above all gym facilities.
Mukhtiar Hussain said Dir Upper have key contributors in the national teams of U16, U19 and Pakistan team besides many players recently played in the PSL as well. He said the PCB has focused on the talent that we have in Dir Upper.
