ISLAMABAD (Online): Chairman Public Account Committee (PAC) Syed Khurshid Shah has given director state of Capital Development Authority (CDA) a good talking-to on giving wrong details about corruption scandal of Grand Hayyat Hotel and sought complete record of corruption scam.
Members of PAC said that civil judges who issued stay orders to corrupt peoples against our decisions are more powerful than us.
They “members of PAC” unanimously gave suggestion stating if “we want to eradicate corruption from the country then PAC would have to be strengthened adding that rules and power must be amended to bring back the plundered money from the jaws of the elite class.
The meeting of PAC held under the chairmanship of Syed khurshid Shah. Auditor General of Pakistan Rana Asad Ameen told the committee that 119 billion of rupees has been recovered owing to PAC. He said that if more powers are given to PAC and AGP then recovery of plundering money could be double.
Former CDA’s chairman Kamran Lashari allotted the plot for the construction of five stars Grand Hayyat Hotel on low prices in the Pervaiz Musharaf’s government in federal capital, revealed in the committee.
Syed Khurshid Shah said that CDA has presented different documents in every briefing regarding the scandal of five star hotels.
He said that this project was 350 feet high at the start but later on it was increased up to 750 feet adding that brigadier Nasrullah, member planning Kamran Qureshi, former member CDA Asad Munir and doctor Faisal Awan are involved in this scandal.
Chariman Employees Old age Benefits Investment (EOBI) Farooqi told the committee that officers of Zardari and Zafar Gondal government in connivance with each other gave the contract of two bungalows in Sialkoat only in five million rupees while one million to designer company.
PAC ordered Farooqi that strict rules and regulation should be formed to cultivate the corruption in the country.
Farooqi said that EOBI is giving pension to five lac people however after the 18th amendment this ministry has been transferred to provinces due to which problems are being occurred.
PAC directed to take all these problems into Council of the Common Trust. Official were directed to complete the projects that were started in the Asif’s government and form the board of EOBI to address the problems.
Bollan dam project was also discussed by the chairman of PAC. He said that we have suggestion speaker of National Assembly to form the secretariat for PAC.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai said that if we want to strengthen the PAC then we must have to empower the Parliament.
Secretary Overseas Pakistanis Hizr Hayyat Khan told the committee allowances of EOBI’s officers have been ended adding that officers who were appointed on deputation looted the billions of rupees.
