Pak-Afghan Football Champions’ League concludes in Peshawar amid colorful ceremony

In order to promote resilience of Afghan and Host Community Youth, Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (CAR-KP) arranged Pak-Afghan Football Champions’ League at Islamia College Peshawar with four days event concluded with a colorful closing ceremony.
The Football Champions’ League was organized by CAR-KP under its project “SSCSWAHC” with financial assistance from SSARC-GIZ. As many as eight teams comprising Afghan and Host Community players from District Kohat, Charsadda, Nowshera and Peshawar participated in the event.
Addressing to young Afghan and Host football players, Project Manager SSCSWAHC CAR-KP Shuja ur Rehman said that on special directives of Commissioner Afghan Refugees Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Abbas Khan, steps were being taken to promote youth resilience and showcase their talent to the world as there was no dearth of sporting talent in the Afghan and Host community Youth.
The Project Manager applauded the role of SSARC-GIZ for coming up with the support to arrange the Sports events, Trainings, Debates and other events to extend psychosocial support to the vulnerable Afghan Refugees and Host Communities in KP.
SSARC-GIZA representatives, Community elders and other officials from CAR-KP and Director Sports Islamia College University Ali Hoti were also present during the prize distribution ceremony.
The final match was played between Young Afghan Football Club Kohat and Dostana Football Club Kohat. Young Afghan club won the final match 3-0.
The special guests of the ceremony from CAR-KP and Islamia College awarded cash prizes and trophies to the winner and runners-up teams. It is worth mentioning here that CAR-KP, with financial assistance from SSARC-GIZ, has been implementing the project in KP to enhance Social Cohesion and Wellbeing between Afghan Refugees and Host Community since June 2021.
