PDMA issues flood warning aimed heavy rainfall in KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a severe flood alert for Kabul River and its tributaries from April today to 20, warning of possible flash floods due to heavy rainfall in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In an advisory issued to all deputy commissioner of the province, the PDMA said that Metrological Department has forecasted a strong westerly weather system is entering the region tonight, likely to trigger heavy rain, flash floods, landslides, and avalanches in several districts including Malakand, Hazara, Bannu, Charsadda, Karak, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, and Swat.
The authority has alerted all district administrations to remain vigilant and implement preventive measures. The Rescue 1122 and Civil Defense has been directed to ensure equipment readiness and availability of emergency resources.
Advised stated that the residents of low-lying areas and livestock owners to stay alert and identify sensitive zones and clearance of roads from obstructions.
Ensured PDMA’s Emergency Operation Center is fully functional. Citizens can report emergencies by calling 1700.
Meanwhile, the NDMA has warned of possible landslides on major highways, especially in Malakand and Hazara divisions, urging people to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains.
