PESHAWAR
Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car, killing the head of the Shahab Khel Peace Committee and two others, Lakki Marwat police informed on Sunday. Police said, the attack took place near Wanda Kara in Lakki Marwat, where assailants indiscriminately fired at a moving vehicle.
The victims were identified as Ghulam Dastagir, the president of the Shahab Khel Peace Committee, and his companions Saleem Khan and Salahuddin.
Authorities stated that Ghulam Dastagir was on his way to resolve a local dispute in Qabul Khel when terrorists ambushed their car.
The bodies were shifted to Sarai Naurang Hospital for post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
The deceased, Ghulam Dastagir, was an active community leader who regularly conducted armed night patrols with hundreds of volunteers to prevent unrest in the region.
