The Private Education Network (PEN) Pakistan has strongly condemned the decision by education boards to halt the migration of students from government schools to private institutions, terming it a serious obstacle to improving the quality of education.
In a statement, PEN Provincial President Muhammad Saleem Khan said reports from various districts indicate that migration applications of students seeking admission to private schools are being deliberately delayed or blocked. He alleged that some education boards are taking this step on the instructions of higher authorities in the education department.
Muhammad Saleem Khan said the move is a clear violation of the fundamental and constitutional right to education. He emphasized that student migration is a legal right of every child and cannot be denied under any circumstances.
Warning of strong resistance, he said that if pressure on private educational institutions continues and students’ educational futures are put at risk, PEN Pakistan will have no option but to take to the streets in protest. He demanded the immediate withdrawal of the “illegal orders” and added that PEN reserves the right to challenge the decision in court if the issue is not resolved.
