PTI contempt of court petition
ECP’s response on notice sought by January 16
PESHAWAR
Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued notice and sought reply from Election Commission (EC) on PTI contempt of court petition .
PTI contempt of court petition against EC came up for hearing before PHC Friday.
A division bench of PHC comprising Justice Shakil Ahmad and Justice Waqar Ahmad took up the petition for hearing.
Qazi Anwar advocate and Shah Faisal Ilyas advocate appeared in the court during the hearing of the case.
The counsels for PTI said PHC had ordered EC to publish PTI certificate on website. But neither certificate regarding its election symbol was issued to PTI nor was this certificate released by EC on website.
PHC while issuing notice to EC on PTI petition has sought reply from it.
PTI had filed contempt of court petition against EC in PHC on the matters related to intra party election and non allocation of bat as election symbol.
PTI was of view that EC has not put PTI certificate on its website despite court’s orders . This step falls under the contempt of court. Proceedings be initiated against Chief Election Commissioner, secretary EC and members.
