Petition has been filed in Peshawar High Court (PHC) on increasing number of rats in several areas of Peshawar. The petition has been filed by the citizens from the areas of Warsak road, Charsada Road, Bashir Abad and others. The petition said the number of mice are on rise due to poor cleanliness condition in the city. Citizens are facing difficulties due to surge in number of rats. Poor sewerage arrangements have led to breeding of rats. People contacted government and administration several time with reference to this issue but no action was taken.
This problem rose in 2016 as well. rat-bite incidents had grown alarmingly.
The petition said 423 such cases were reported in only Lady Reading Hospital where the rats had bitten human beings.
In 2016 administration had launched scheme through which case was given on killing mice. Government should take action against mice in the city so that the matter does not aggravate further.
Provincial government, health department, DC, Chief Executive WSSP and others have been made respondents in the petition.
