In 2023, more than 61,000 heart patients, including 9,000 children, were examined in the OPD of the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, spokesman Rifat Anjum told media men during a briefing here on Sunday.
During 2023, more than 1400 patients underwent cardiac surgeries in PIC, spokesperson Miss Rifat Anjum said. She said that more than 11,000 angiography and angioplasty procedures including 450 children were performed during one year.
She said 13,000 heart patients were brought to the emergency hospital and more than 15,600 patients underwent angiography, angioplasty, heart operations and other treatments free of charge on health cards.
She disclosed that 21 Tavi surgeries of international standards were performed without chest surgery and not only the patients of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces but also the neighboring country of Afghanistan have been given the best facilities in the PIC.
In Peshawar Institute of Cardiology, about 4 thousand Afghan patients were given treatment facilities in OPD, Spokesperson Rifat Anjum said. She said more than 600 Afghan patients underwent angiography, angioplasty and heart surgeries and 28,400 patients have benefited from PIC’s state-of-the-art CT scan, MRI, ultrasound and X-ray, the spokesman said.
In the year 2023, PIC has achieved various international and national level achievements, said the spokesperson. In the year 2023, PIC got re-certification to ISO and the honor of being the first category one government hospital of the province, spokesman Rafat Anjum. For the first time in Pakistan, Rota Pro Plus and LA appendage technology were introduced for heart disease, Rifat Anjum.
