Governor Khyber- Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Ghulam Ali said that if Maulana Fazlur Rehman gives him signal he will not delay for a minute in leaving the governor’s house.
“I am a political worker and supporter of respect for the mandate and cannot think about the governor role in the province “, he added. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Mardan Press Club who visited the Governor House. The delegation was led by President Muhammad Bashir Adil and general secretary Akhunzada Fazl-e-Haq. Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) president Zahir Shah and other senior members of the press club were included in the delegation.
The governor said that in the current situation, heavy responsibility is imposed on the media, only political stability and patience can get the country out of the vortex of problems. In response to the question asked about the hint of imposing Governor’s rule in the province, he said that he is a political man and cannot even think of Governor’s rule. He said that the people who have been given the mandate have the right to rule.
He said that the people who have been given the mandate by the people now have their duties to formulate policies to solve the problems. In response to a question, he said that he is ready to play his role for the best working relationship between the province and the federation.
He said that political seriousness is the need of the hour because the country is facing numerous problems including economic difficulties and nothing can be done with mere emotional slogans and claims. Governor, in response to a question regarding universities, said that shortlists were prepared for the appointment of vice-chancellors in 19 universities of the province during the caretaker period.
Due to the absence of vice-chancellors in universities, they are fully aware of the problems of administrative affairs and degrees of students, but the appointment of vice-chancellors does not come under his jurisdiction. The governor said that journalism is the fourth pillar of the state. Journalists are the eyes and ears of society.
In this era of digital media, journalists have a heavy responsibility to provide accurate news and information to the people. The governor added that Mardan is the second largest city of the province. He argued that Mardan creates big names in every field. He added that journalists of Mardan also have a positive role in the field of journalism. He also gave a detailed briefing and visit to the governor house to the delegation of Mardan press club.
