PESHAWAR
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Provincial Information Secretary Adeel Iqbal has expressed concern over the resurgence of terrorism in the country, questioning the government’s lack of seriousness in addressing the issue.
Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC), Iqbal stated that both civilians and security forces are making sacrifices, yet the government remains distracted. “Until peace is restored, investment will not come to the country. Instead of focusing on fake governments, efforts should be directed toward eradicating terrorism,” he said.
Iqbal criticized the federal government, claiming that a regime without public mandate cannot be expected to care for the people. He also rebuked Defense Minister Khawaja Asif for blaming PTI for terrorism, urging him to focus on counterterrorism measures. “Due to the federal government’s negligence, Pakistan ranks second globally in terrorism. What concrete steps have they taken to control it?” he asked.
He alleged that the government is preoccupied with targeting PTI, while key security challenges remain unaddressed. “Bushra Bibi is in jail just because she is the wife of PTI’s founding chairman,” he claimed, adding that the 26th Amendment was passed through force.
Iqbal announced that PTI would launch protests after Eid, following the instructions of its founding chairman. He questioned border security management and criticized the police for being left to fight terrorism alone. “The authorities responsible for national security must fulfill their duty and eliminate terrorism.
Conferences are not the solution—decisive action is needed,” he asserted.
