PESHAWAR: The executive body of Pakistan Flour Mills Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter held an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of Haji Muhammad Iqbal, condemning the “unconstitutional restrictions” imposed by the Punjab government on wheat transportation. The meeting was attended by group leader Muhammad Naeem Butt and senior leadership from other districts. Chairman Haji Iqbal criticized the Punjab government for setting up “illegal check posts” in the name of permits, which he claimed has led to extortion and bribery. He alleged that truck drivers are forced to pay bribes ranging from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 to cross the Punjab-KP border. Iqbal argued that transporting wheat within the country is not smuggling, and appealed to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of the issue and protect the rights of the people of KP.
