An Anti-Terrorism Court of Islamabad on Tuesday granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi till April 10 in two cases relating to meddling in official matters, arson and protest.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan heard the case. Advocate Ali Bokhari appeared before court on behalf of Shah Mahmood Qureshi. During hearing of the case, the judge inquired about the allegations leveled in FIRs against Qureshi.
The counsel for Qureshi replied that he was blamed for plotting and inciting public to hold protest. The judge then asked who was witness to that whole episode, who made that plot and who ordered the protesters to hold protest?
He said the court will take up all these questions, but for the time being the PTI leader was being granted interim bail. Qureshi’s counsel requested the court to fix a longer date, coz there were so many cases registered against the PTI leaders.
Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan admitted the number of cases was too high. He said that he had hundreds of cases lying pending for bails only. The judge then fixed April 10 as next hearing date for all related cases.
