PESHAWAR: The Provincial Secretary of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) for Information Shakeel Waheedullah Khan has strongly criticized the federal budget, calling it anti-people and neglectful of the needs of the public, business community, industry, and agriculture. In a statement, Shakeel Waheedullah said the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has rejected the budget for its failure to provide meaningful relief to the people. He pointed out that despite the government’s pre-budget promises of easing inflation and offering support, these claims remain unfulfilled. He expressed particular concern over the increase in petrol levy tax, warning that it would further fuel inflation and worsen the economic hardships faced by ordinary citizens. “The government appears helpless in delivering relief and essential facilities to the public,” he said. Shakeel Waheedullah also condemned the imposition of an 18% tax on solar energy, calling it a move that closes off a vital avenue of relief for struggling households. “The 10% salary increase announced is merely a ‘cumin seed in the camel’s mouth,’ and pensioners have faced even greater injustice,” he added. HE stated that the budget was crafted under IMF dictation and disregards the interests of the common people. Taxes have been levied on almost all essentials, from matches to food and medicines, which will deepen the financial burden on the already suffering population. DLP Report
