ISLAMABAD
At least six people, including women and children were killed in two separate incidents of roof collapse in rain-hit Gujranwala on, local media reported.
In an incident, a roof of a house crashed on a family due to heavy rain near Awan Chowk in the city, leaving a woman, her two children dead under the debris. Her child was wounded who was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment.
In another tragedy, rain brought down roof of a house in Arif Town killing a woman and her two children
The rain was recorded at 138 millimetres in Gujrat, 106mm in Gujranwala and 113mm in Sialkot.
A spokesperson of Met Office told our correspondent that the highest rainfall of 138mm has been recorded in Gujrat followed by 113mm in Sialkot. He said that 78mm rain was recorded in Rawalpindi and 61mm in Islamabad.
Several areas in Rawalpindi including Jamia Masjid Road and Nadeem Colony have been deluged under rainwater. Meantime, the water level of Nala Lai started to surge.
The Nala Lai water level rose to five feet at Gawal Mandi and nine feet at Katarian. Heavy machinery has been alerted to cope with the emergency situation.
In Gujrat, the rainwater entered houses and offices posing serious troubles to the local people. The low-lying areas have been waterlogged to three feet.
The heavy showers deluged several areas in Gujranwala.
In Loralai, several areas were affected with the intense rainfall causing disturbance to the traffic flow at Quetta-Dera Ismail Khan Road.
