Riphah Peshawar, CIFM Lahore host open house on family medicine career pathways

An Open Hous e on postgraduate training in Family Medicine was jointly organized at Peshawar Medical College (PMC) by Riphah International University Peshawar Campus and the Central Institute of Family Medicine (CIFM), Lahore.
The event was attended by medical students, house officers, practitioners from public and private sectors, and faculty members from Peshawar Medical and Dental Colleges.
Welcoming the participants, Dean PMC Prof. Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rahman highlighted the role of Family Medicine in strengthening primary healthcare. Dr. Humaira Khattak, AP Family Medicine, then provided an overview of the specialty.
Keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Nasir Shah of CIFM Lahore introduced the MRCGP (International) South Asia qualification. He explained that this competency-based, internationally benchmarked program emphasizes holistic, patient-centered care and equips physicians with advanced clinical and communication skills. He added that the qualification greatly enhances career opportunities both within Pakistan and abroad, including the Gulf region and Australia.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A on career development, followed by a vote of thanks from Prof. Muhammad Aman Khan, Head of Community Health Sciences at PMC.
