Security forces role crucial in eradicating polio: IG-KP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Akhter Hayat Gandapur, has said that law enforcement and security forces were leveraging advanced technology to fortify their installations. This includes thermal imaging cameras and squid systems, significantly enhancing nighttime security. He said that during the past two-and-a-half years, nighttime attacks posed significant concerns. However, IG Gandapur noted that the situation has improved due to increased detentions and enhanced surveillance of terrorist movements and hideouts.
The IG highlighted the crucial role of security forces in polio vaccination campaigns, deploying personnel to safeguard polio teams despite occasional attacks.
To combat terrorism, security forces aim to minimize militant activities and ensure public safety, he said and added that 177 terrorists have been neutralized and around 50 policemen embraced martyrdoms in the line of duty
IG Gandapur emphasized that winning this long-term war requires collaborative efforts from military, intelligence agencies, public unity and cooperation are essential to establishing lasting peace in KP and Pakistan.
