KHYBER
The Tanzeem-e-Asateza, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has called for a review of the newly announced school timings set to be effective from April 1, 2026 terming it impractical.
It is to be stated here that due to energy crises across the world, the government has decided to close the state –run educational institutions for two days (Friday and Saturday) in a week.
The government has extended period (classes) duration to cover the deficiency of learning time of the students, education department officials said.
As per the newly announced school timings all government schools will start on 07:30 am, primary schools will close on 1:35 pm while students of middle and high schools will leave on 03:00 pm and it will be effective for four days weekly.
Expressing their deep concerns, the President of the Tanzeem(organization) Dr. Amir Atiq Siddiqui, Provincial Secretary Dr. Muhammad Usman, In-charge Schools Department Abdul Wadud Khattak, District Khyber President Sharifullah Afridi, and Information Secretary Dr. Zakiullah, the increase in class duration without considering prevailing weather conditions will create difficulties for students, teachers, and school staff—particularly those coming from remote areas.
“Extending school hours on the justification of two weekly holidays is not appropriate and may negatively affect both the educational environment and the health of students and staff”, they opined.
They urged the government to immediately review the decision and restore the previous school timings (7:30 am to 1:35 pm).
